In 1986, John Andrews and Jim Collar, two comfortably employed consulting engineers, determined that a serious need
existed for custom information management software for Macintosh—at that time a relatively new personal computer with
a unique graphical interface. Some 20 years later, Footprints employs a dozen technical staff in three integrated full
service offices and counts over 200 successful projects executed on Windows and Macintosh platforms.
All Footprints offices work as a cohesive team, with programming and design tasks assigned to available team members
having appropriate technical expertise. A wide area network, video conferencing and centralized project management
software facilitate project management. All employees adhere to a comprehensive set of programming standards
designed to ensure that in addition to being able to easily read each other's code today, code written 10 years ago is
equally easy to understand and to maintain.
